Welcome Marian Rose "Rosie" Hardin!

Congratulations Krista Hardin on the birth of your beautiful baby! Rosie was born Thursday, 8/22 at 8:14 am. She was 7.1 lbs and 20.5" long. We can't wait to meet her!

Opportunities
* We are looking for people to serve on our RtI committee. This team meets Friday mornings at 7:30. We would love to have a representative from every grade level as well as specials. Please let Stephanie Brown know if you are interested.

* We are also looking for an intermediate and primary teacher to serve on our GT team. This team will meet a couple times a year.

* Brooks Gibbs is an expert on emotional resiliency and anti-bullying. He is speaking at Rock Canyon next Thursday from 6:30-7:30 in the auditorium. Anyone is welcome to attend. Click here to RSVP.

Reminders
* Click here for the Assessment Day schedule and DRA/F & P norms.  All teachers are welcome to attend the new teacher training on Tuesday at 7:30 for a refresher.  We will review how to administer and score DRA & F & P.

* PTO Teacher grants are due on August 30.  Please submit a clean receipt to Angel.

* Important tech norms: Ask 3 before seeing Megan and watch videos linked on the right hand side of the Barker.

* Please stack your chairs at the end of the day and remind students not to put zip lock bags in the recycle bin.

* Please turn in your class emergency dismissal forms to the office.

I READY
I have one piece of good news!  We have the ability to "reset" a test prior to a student finishing.  If a student is clicking through a test quickly and a teacher notices they can follow the directions below and reset the test.

* On Monday, you will get a current Assessment Day schedule in your box. Please reach out to your parents who have not signed up one more time.

* For the first fire drill on Tuesday, cones will be set up on the field with your name designating where your class should line up.

* Please make sure students have signed their device contracts before using their device. You can keep these in your classroom. Click here for the incident report.

* We will review reading administration guidelines during staff development on Wednesday. This will include printing iReady cards, reviewing iReady administration and DRA/F&P agreements.

* On Thursday, you received your class schedules for Meet Your Teacher and Assessment Day.  We ask that you email your families that have not signed up for either event by this Friday, August 2.  Please click here for the parent email for both events.  You are welcome to copy and paste. Please remember to bcc parents.

* We have a consistent data page for classrooms K-5 this year.  As you are reviewing your students' information either through their blue folders or plans you may want to record their data on your class page.  If so, please click on your individual page. Please know that your fall data will not be complete until September 1st.

* If you have not done so, please turn your yellow emergency form to the office.

District Mandatory Trainings
Many of you have been working throughout the summer on your classrooms and are in great shape. You are required to complete the following mandatory trainings through the District this fall:


Course: 2019-2020 SY Mandatory Training: Includes the following modules: 1. Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting 2. Keeping Students Safe 3. Standard Response Protocol 4. Respect at Work 5. Run, Hide, Fight 6. Privacy Act Compliance


I thought I would share them in the event that some of you may want to use your time to get a head start.


"Moving In" Norms
Please review our school "moving in" norms as you set up your classroom.  These norms help us respond to our limited storage and keep our school clean. 


* Please do not drill any holes in the wall (staples only).
* Please do not put permanent sticks on walls or cabinets.
* Please do not bring in furniture with fabric (bean bags, couches etc.).
* Please do not remove any furniture from your classrooms (desks, tables, rocking chairs).
* Please come back to the free table at the end of the day.  If your items were not taken, please throw them in the trash.
