Welcome Back!

October 2014

Reminders
• On October 28 at 5:30-6:30 Jenny will be sharing what makes Gold Rush unique at a District Choice Fair.  She needs one teacher representative to join her.  Please let her know early this week if you are interested.
• We will have a fire drill on Tuesday at 9:30.
• Please sign up for your observations by Friday.  All observations must be completed by winter break.  If Jenny is your evaluator, sign up through Janis. If Libby is your evaluator, please sign up with her. Click here for the pre-observation document and here for the sample of the pre-observation document.  All pre-observation documents should be emailed to your evaluator one day prior to your pre-observation meeting.  We look forward to being in your classroom!
• Please remember it is the norm to not pull students from Specials.
• Halloween Party 2014 – Students will arrive at school in their costumes.  They should not have weapons, masks, or inappropriate costumes.  Parties will be from 9:15-9:55.  We will begin the parade at 9:55 and it will end at 10:15. Regular classroom routine will resume at 10:30.  If you have students who do not wish to participate in the Halloween festivities, they can arrive at school at 10:30.
Below are the links to your new mandatory training sessions housed in the NEW PD System:

When you click the link it will ask you to enroll in the session. Once enrolled, you can scroll down past the description box to begin the training. Please have the three sessions completed by October 31.

Opportunities
• Ellin Oliver Keene is hosting a Thinking Strategies Institute Tuesday, Nov. 4 - Friday, Nov 7 or Monday, Jan. 26 – Thursday, Jan. 29. This institute will explore best practices in literacy instruction across the content areas through shared learning, structured group conversations, and reflection on current practices and desired goals. If you are interested in attending either session, please let Jenny know.
• If you would like to collaborate with Megan Fleet on writing a technology grant, please let her know.
