• Thank you for speaking with your students about our wellness topic for this month - the traits of a good friend.  Click here for additional resources.
• Please make sure all fall DRA data is entered into Infinite Campus.
• Janis is collecting dues for social committee. It is $25 for full time certified staff and $12.50 for half time and classified staff.
• Remember that it is ok to send students to the health room! Please use your best judgment. If they come down once and continue to complain you can send them back.
• Due to our writing planning days, we will not have staff development this week.
• Please remember to walk your class all the way outside at the end of the day.
• Please sign up for your observation if you have not done so. If Jenny is your evaluator, sign up through Janis. If Libby is your evaluator, please sign up with her.
• Halloween Party 2014 – Students will arrive at school in their costumes.  They should not have weapons, masks, or inappropriate costumes.  Parties will be from 9:15-9:55.  We will begin the parade at 9:55 and it will end at 10:15. Regular classroom routine will resume at 10:30.  If you have students who do not wish to participate in the Halloween festivities, they can arrive at school at 10:30.
• A map for the Halloween parade will be in your box next week.
• Teachers, please begin thinking about who will need accommodations for PARCC the new state assessment. In order to receive an accommodation, students must be on a formalized plan (IEP, 504, ELLP).

• A survey is being conducted on behalf of the Colorado Standards and Assessments Task Force.  The intent of the survey is to gain valuable insight on the impact of assessments at the district, school and classroom level so the survey is differentiated and tailored based upon the respondent’s role.  We encourage everyone to participate in this important state discussion.  The online survey is available hereWe ask that all surveys be completed by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29th

Reminders
• On October 28 at 5:30-6:30 Jenny will be sharing what makes Gold Rush unique at a District Choice Fair.  She needs one teacher representative to join her.  Please let her know early this week if you are interested.
• We will have a fire drill on Tuesday at 9:30.
• Please sign up for your observations by Friday.  All observations must be completed by winter break.  If Jenny is your evaluator, sign up through Janis. If Libby is your evaluator, please sign up with her. Click here for the pre-observation document and here for the sample of the pre-observation document.  All pre-observation documents should be emailed to your evaluator one day prior to your pre-observation meeting.  We look forward to being in your classroom!

Opportunities
• Ellin Oliver Keene is hosting a Thinking Strategies Institute Tuesday, Nov. 4 - Friday, Nov 7 or Monday, Jan. 26 – Thursday, Jan. 29. This institute will explore best practices in literacy instruction across the content areas through shared learning, structured group conversations, and reflection on current practices and desired goals. If you are interested in attending either session, please let Jenny know.
• If you would like to collaborate with Megan Fleet on writing a technology grant, please let her know.
